Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

Dr. Bhimarao Ambedkar was born on 14th April 1891 in Mahow village of Madhya Pradesh State.

He was 14th child of Ramji Maloji Sakpal and Bhimabai Ramji Sakpal.

He is popularly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar. His parents belongs to  Ambadave village in the Mandangad taluka of Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra State.

Whenever people talk about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar they always limit him to a leader of a drown trodden people, they always limit him to a leader of dalits. Is that he was limited for only this work?

Other introductions people have about him. He was the principle architect of Indian Constitution. Well that offcourse is the truth but, it would not be confined and he was more than what people know about him. Even today after so many years Dr. Ambedkar is not still fully understood or appreciated by the general masses. What people talk about him as the Massiah of the drown trodden, as the chief architect of Indian constitution, is the very well truth but it would be incomplete to say just that.

He was truely a multi talented personality, he was an intellectual joint. He was an Economist, he was a sociologist, he was a jurist and he was the first law minister in the Nehru’s court. 

These are the various facets of his personality, which people still don’t  understood. This is not all. He has made many contributions in many other areas for the integration of India. With all these dimensions in life he was a true nationalist at his quote. The famous quote is “I am Indian firstly and I am Indian at the end.”

It belongs to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and it is not belong to anybody else. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar had before him. Not only the unpreviledged people is the society but the entire society Babasaheb always believed in equality. His vision of social change and reclaimation of human personality was universal. During his lifetime he made many efforts and he uses various strategies and methods to create a society which is based on the values of Equality, liberty and fraternity. 

Women didn’t have the right to equality but now Women’s have all the right to take her decision to select her own groom. Women were not allowed to take divorce from husband but now the situations have changed. These provisions are in Indian Constitution by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Constitution gives all the ladies the right to decide on this. By doing all the provisions in Indian constitution for all the women’s irrespective of caste and religion.

Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was not only a man of intellectual but he was also a man of great moral character. He was a liberal minded leader with the ideas of democracy, freedom of thoughts and expression. As regards to the philosophy of life he was the rationalist and secular minded and humanist thinker.

Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar embraced Buddhism to gain the basic human rights and self respect needed. He was totally against the in equality of human beings and ideology of Hinduism, is nothing but the construction of caste system.

For this reason although he was born in the Hindu religion he decided to quit it and embrace the Buddhism and he did in in 14th October 1956 in Nagpur. Why chosen Buddhism from all the religions because Buddha’s teaching is based on the value of morality and ethics. It has no kind of caste discrimination. Buddha’s teaching is modern, rational and contemporary. Buddha makes us think and live by a reason.

Following Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Lakhs of his followers embraced Buddhism and they are living a life of full of self respect and dignity.
